Trial reduction With the broach in place, a trial head is fitted to its tapered cone (Fig. 19). The hip is reduced by extension, traction, lateral rotation and abduction (Fig. 20).
The following points can then be verified :
- Leg length can be checked using the short, standard or long necked trial heads with a diameter matching that of the insert.
- The stability of the hip joint can be checked.
