Designing

Finding the best implant design always starts by considering various technical and design possibilities. The more complex the product, the more concepts are created. Often this starts with numerous meetings where surgeons, engineers and marketeers are discussing possible solutions. The design phase is mainly consisting of the concrete design development of the implant, but also of the instruments needed to perform the surgical operation. This parallelism is necessary in order to build up the concept of both products and to offer surgeons an entirely functional solution.

Again, the marketing team is the leading institution, controlling costs and progress of the project. They are bound to the company’s constraints in terms of strategy, budget and available capacities.

During design development, surgeons represent the needs of patients, including short healing process and minimum pain. They also have in mind the ergonomics and the use of the product to make it better for all their colleagues.

Engineers are very much dependent on physics and state of the art technologies and materials to approach solutions suggested by surgeons. Additionally, they must respect the limit of costs and time prescribed by the marketing team.
