Stem - Cleaning and Passivation

Once again, upon arrival of the items from the Benoist Girard plant, the parts are processed through a series of tanks for cleaning & passivation using a preset automated program. This is a validated process step and it ensures that the no debris or particles are left on the product.

The passivation step is a surface treatment that forms an oxide layer on the surface of the implant providing increased resistance to corrosion. The ABG™II prosthesis is plunged into a nitric acid bath heated between 50°C and 60°C for a duration of 30 minutes.
